Taking the orijinal marble design on grounds as base, a design that will not separate the holistic spirit of the place and will be in a harmony with the originality, would be a familiar and relative choice for both Byzantine and Ottoman periods.
The marble used for the floor and ceiling was produced in Anatolia and Syria, while other bricks came from as far away as North Africa. Also the 104 marble columns were imported from the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, as well as from Egypt.
The interior of Hagia Sophia is lined with enormous marble slabs that are said to have been designed to imitate moving water.
Keeping this marvellous history in mind, combining the marble motifs and colors into fabric design will keep the originality of the place in foreground and will not lose any of its value and magnificence.
