While examining the building, I was impressed by the interweaving of the Early Byzantine Period geometric shapes. This was also a reflection of the Selçuklu illumination art.
As Hagia Sophia represent palace for me, I used the stone reliefs in the mihrab of the Konya Karatay Madresesi while representing the directional lines in the carpet.
Each of the colors used has a symbolic meaning:
